First up, pictures under discussion! A Friday evening talk at Langara College. Tickets here: Picture Under Discussion. Starts at 7:00pm and we’ll be talking about pictures and also have 5 portfolios to review from the first 5 people who submitted photos. Will be fun! Lots of caffeine will be consumed, and all topics are on the table and up for grabs. Should be a lively evening.
Then, a lighting workshop on Saturday (9:00am -12:30pm) at a cool studio space – Studio 31 in Vancouver. Register here: Big Light from Small Flash. I’ll be doing live demos with models and working with small flash and shaping light with some of the new Lastolite tools in play, so we’ll have a lot of accessories out for quick solutions.
As always, really looking forward to collaborating with the amazing creative community in Vancouver. For instance, for the below picture, I met Bevin, an excellent modern dancer, and for whatever reason what bubbled up in my head was to think of her as a bird in a nest of tulle. The above pic, is also her, flying as a dancer tends to do. We won’t be shooting dance during this trip, but working on portraits, lighting, and expressing imagination.
